Day 10: Gallup to Grants -- 70 miles
A short day today with cold clear skies and no dirt or abandoned bridges. I stopped only at the rest stop near the Continental Divide and we reached Grants in time for lunch.
Our rest stop was at one of the ubiquitous Indian trading posts. Here I am with Elaine Mariolle -- a cultural geographer who is studying Route 66 (and a former Race Across America bike race winner). A friend of Lon's, she joined us for a couple of days.

Lunch was at the Uranium Cafe in Grants. A real hot spot. Afterward, we toured the elaborate mining museum across the street. They've re-created a uranium mine in the basement. Scary.
