original lineup since 1983's 'Seven and the Ragged Tiger'. It entered the UK
album charts at #3, their highest charting album since the 1983 album. The first
single, Sunrise, entered the UK charts at #5, their highest chart entry since
1985's A View to a Kill (the last single from the original 5).

I started to talk about this CD
several months ago after reading about an upcoming concerts (which I didnt
attend). Ever since then I have thought about buying it, but never did.
Recently, I started listening to Virgin Radio UK and their current UK single
'Chocolate' has been in heavy rotation. So.... I did the deed and picked it up.
On the first few listens, I have to say I am thoroughly enjoying it. Poppy, with
a clever use of strings, percussion and layered vocals, this CD is smooth and a
pleasure to listen to. Rated 4 stars (review included in body) and I would
agree. Great CD from this Scottish band and definately worth a
listen.

The new Duran Duran video for Sunrise, is slowly
making its way to the airways. Sunrise was filmed by the indie-movie Polish
brothers in California, London, Ibiza and Portugal using a variety of formats
(digital, traditional, etc), a few video still are shown here. Still waiting for
a NA release date. Note Nick performing on his Apple Powerbook (it looks like an
ibook in the vid, but i have always known him to be a Powerbook user, so it must
be the light).

In other Sunrise news,
the single has proven so popular at US radio that Epic records have decided to
release it as a CD single at the end of Sept. No single was originally planned
for the US.

The first new single from the original
lineup of Duran Duran since A View to a Kill in 1985 is dropped to Canadian
radio on Tuesday August 17th and is called
Sunrise.

Some of you may recognize this
from the Queer Eye for the Straight Guy soundtrack. This version is totally
rerecorded with new vocals and more guitar and drums. Produced by Duran Duran
and Don Gilmore (Linkin Park, Good Charlotte), the song is catchy, albeit a bit
short. Duran's new label, Sony (Epic), is putting a lot of promo behind this one
leading up to the release of they album 'Astronaut' out October 12. You can hear
the song here (hit
the single cover to download).

gives it 4..5 out of 5 stars and all i can say is WOW. Smooth alternative

must buy, you wont regret it.

Known as a one man british invasion,
this CD is full of relaxing jazziness that is perfect for having on in the
background or as a backdrop for martinis. The Radiohead cover of High and Dry is
great and the title track is well written and smooth. I predict Jamie Callum
will be as big in North America as he has been in the UK this past
year.

Well, I bought into all the hype of FF being
the next big band to come out of the UK, and picked up the CD, also because I
contemplated seeing them play in Vancouver. While interesting and it possibly
might grow on me, this is not really my cup of tea, so I ditched both the
concert and the CD.

Hardly a song on Yoshimi isn't resonated, echoed, and reverberated--floating the
listener higher until they have the ultimate bird's-eye view of what makes a
great band tick. As with any album by the band, it's hard not to imagine parades
and a sky filled with helium balloons while you listen to any of it--in this
case, the party is enhanced brilliantly by digital filters and silver shimmering
asides.
