The Republicans have ratcheted up their "Kerry rhetoric emboldens terrorist" stuff. That's precisely what I want them to do. If Kerry is as smart as I think he is, he'll keep provoking them, driving them to becoming more strident. Read Sun Tzu. If the enemy is quick to anger, irritate him. Kerry should use that strategy in every debate with Bush and every stump speech. Vex him. Get under his skin. Make him lash out. Make him show just how ugly, stupid, and malevolent he is under the "Aw-shucks" patter. Draw him in, make him wild, then destroy him.

I watched an interview with George Foreman the other day. When the subject turned to the Rumble In the Jungle with Ali, he said he went out to destroy Ali in the first round. He threw everything he had at his man, and after three minutes, Ali returned to his corner with a look on his face that said, "I made it. I'm still here". From that moment, Foreman said he knew that he would lose. Ali taunted Foreman for the next six rounds, "You disappoint me, George. I thought you'd hit me harder." Kerry should take a lesson from that. Take the hits. Let Bush rip at him in the wildest terms, then goad him into going wilder by peppering him with the facts about his follies in Iraq and mocking the strength that makes us weaker. Let him wreck himself, then administer the coup de grace.
