Yeah, but how bad could that be?

It's kind of Salon to compile the long list of dark deeds that the Bushies have done while in power. (You've got to watch an ad to see it, if you don't already subscribe). They shouldn't start off by hyping every scandal they've uncovered as "worse than Whitewater". Who are these scandals going to brag to about that? Whitewater was a bullshit land deal where a peripheral Friend of Bill conned Governor Clinton and his wife into investing in property that was going nowhere. There was no mystery in it, no evidence the Clintons broke laws. All Bill and Hillary Clinton did was lose money; and if people were thrown in prison for that, George W. Bush would be serving a life sentence.

Given the current media environment (CBS's surrender on the Niger documents) I doubt any of these scandals will move beyond this story and a few blogs like this one. That includes the Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib stuff. The left just doesn't have any weapons to work with. Maybe in 2006...I don't know.

What I do know is that we'll be living with the consequences of these and other scandals for the next few decades, thus staining a good deal of the rest of my life. So George, from me to you--fuck you, your mother, your father, and your brother. Fuck anyone who ever called himself your friend. I wish Dante could come back and design a special new circle that would cover all of your crimes; because even if I can't take comfort in razors burrowing beneath your flesh forever, I'm sure Dante could make the image of it beautiful.
