Perpignan (approximately 45 mins by road) and Girona (1 hour) are equally convenient airports. Carcassonne (1 hour 45 mins), Barcelona (2 hours), and Toulouse (2 hours 45 mins) are reasonable alternatives.
Since the following list of direct flights with low-cost airlines (revised December 2005) is almost certainly out of date, we recommend that you consult Flylc.com for an up-to-date list of all European low-cost carriers and their routes. Note that some of the routes operate in the summer months only.

Perpignan is also served by Air France, while Barcelona and Toulouse are served by several scheduled airlines, including Air France, BMI, British Airways, Iberia, KLM and Lufthansa. It is worthwhile considering these, since you can sometimes get lower fares than are available from the so-called low-cost airlines, particularly if there are no direct flights from your local airport. The "traditional" airlines usually have better baggage allowances as well.
