Review of Christmas Trees & Carols In excess of 250 people visited the festival over the 2 days and the overriding comments made were how beautiful it looked as well as how much work and ingenuity had gone into the decorating of the trees. Everyone remarked about the brevity of the weekend and consequently we are now considering repeating the event next year but having the trees in place for a week! Nearly 90 people attended the superb concert on Saturday evening to enjoy the items provide by Stepout Theatre , St Mary’s Singers and the energetic dancers from Strawberry Hill Dance company, but I do have to say, despite my trepidation, the donkey at the end did steal the show. Tonight 150 people and 35 children joined in The Carol Songs of Praise as well as listen to the super rendition of I saw 3 ships by the Scout Hand bell ringers and to enjoy the tea and mince pies bringing the weekend to a very festive conclusion. The whole weekend has been a great success with a lovely warm atmosphere and raising approximately £750 towards the Beat the Beetle Fund. Click HERE to see photos of some of the trees and HERE for the indefatigable organisers, Julie and Jason, champion beetle-beaters Review of Ceilidh On October 17th, 7:30 pm at N.ewent Community School. Dancing to The Whole Caboodle Band. The ceilidh was brilliant with excellent band lots of fun and laughter .... Everyone who went said how much they enjoyed it as it was such a good atmosphere(concentration on peoples faces to get their right/left correct as well as remembering the sequence was hilarious to watch)
