Artist in Residency
11/Mar/10 09:10
At Rabley Drawing Centre having a fine old time of being immersed in a creative process. The workshop has amazing views across the landscape and my space has become a 3-d sketchbook of ideas, environs, characters, with memories of people & place transforming into new stories unfolding. A family of trad dolls from around the world are keeping me company and keep going out on little journeys here and there. Open Door events have been great, visitors have been really generous in sharing ideas, information and references. It is soooooo vital for artist’s to have research and development time, and I am the first one to experiment in the drawing lab. Not much trad drawing, more weaving of narratives, writing of lists, messing around with multi media. Tony is visiting today with a cronky old projector and we are going to play with Super 8 film. I wonder if I drag in a tiny bed and a heater if Meryl will notice, because I want to just continue on and on - It would be a dream to have a residency for six months. Note to self, start praying!
