David Taylor Memorial Walk, Sun 22 Aug 2010

8 mile circular walk through the Sence Valley Forest Park, Heather and surrounding district on David's Birthday. The opportunity will be taken to raise funds for The British Heart Foundation. Simultaneously, a shorter walk of about 4 miles will set off, which will appeal to family and local friends.
Our meeting place will be Coalville offices of NWLDC at the car park on London Road at 0900. The walks will start from the Sence Valley main car park at 0930.

Larry Ball Memorial Walk, Sat 28 Aug 2010

Depart Mount St. Bernard Abbey at 0900. 5 mile walk via Lubcloud and Blackbrook back to the Abbey where we hope to arrange a tree planting ceremony at 1245.

At 1300 a second walk will go through Warren Hills and Charnwood Lodge ( our one decent bit of Access Land) and back to the Abbey. 6 miles.

This will be part of the "Baton Walk" to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Ramblers, and the first annual Larry Ball Walk.

The Editor of Write of Way welcomes any articles or snippets that may be of interest to other walkers. Epics or dramas on walks, amusing anecdotes, bits of information about wildlife, the countryside and the environment: everything and anything is welcome. Subject to the constraints of space and costs he will slot in as much as he can and anything else may be used on this web site.

In addition he will feature at least one photograph each edition so, if you have a good snap of somewhere in your group's area or of some interesting trip you have been on, send them in and he will pick out the best of the bunch.

Material can be posted or sent electronically (with the subject being "Ramblers") to Roy Denney. (The email address is his name with no spaces, and he has a hotmail address.)
