jeremy fernsler : Holga 120S photography

08 - august - 2005

so, it's taken me a year to put a roll of color
film into my holga. when I promised laura and
josh that I would bring my cameras, I knew I
wanted to try it out. I got a few good ones but
I think this one is the best.

04 - august - 2005

these are a couple left over from the rolls shown
below. couple of shots from a bike ride in san fran
and a shot I took after being back home for a bit.

04 - august - 2005

more wedding photos, different wedding. we went
to san francisco for ainsley and keely's wedding. it
was on the grounds of the presidio in the old chapel.
good times... good times.

04 - august - 2005

laura asked me if I would shoot some photos at
her wedding, especially with the holga or whatever
I've got. so I shot a few rolls on the holga including my
first color roll, which has yet to come back from the
lab - needless to say I'm excited. I shot a bunch on the
20D as well, I'll get those up some time. I think some
came out quite nicely.

23 - december - 2004

man have I neglected this camera. I do this a lot. I get
a new gadget or something to fiddle with, do the fiddling
then lose interest. especially with something like the holga
where I got a lot of joy out of modifying the camera, but once
that was done it sort of lost it's lustre. anyway, I've made
some effort to get it out more and have run a couple rolls
through. a couple shots were salvagable, I'll show you one.

25 - august - 2004

basically I ended up with a roll of photos that I was not
very happy with. granted the past two times I have posted
five frames out of twelve, which is a very high percentage.
I do this because I think I should be postingas much here
as possible until I feel I have reached a point to be
more critical. I am still learning the process of it all
and hopefully my eye will develop a more in the future.
with that said, here is the one photo I liked off of
my most recent roll of film.

4 - august - 2004

so I headed off to coney island over the weekend,
grabbed my Holga and slapped in it's second roll of
film. the first two photos are actually from around
brooklyn while I was doing the sunprinting. the last
three are from coney island. the first is of a school
bus parking lot of sorts. the second I took while waiting
in line for the cyclone rollercoaster. the last photo
is the sign for the ferris wheel. the film loading
and developing process went much smoother for this roll,
however there are still times when the film will try to kink
and not move in the spools, I need to get better at that.
enjoy the photos.

1 - august - 2004

this was an experiment with printing a negative
on blue sunprint paper. this is called cyanotype
process and I hope to refine it a bit more. this
image was created under 14 minutes of bright
sunlight. a proper exposure would most likely take
20 to 25 minutes but the sun was setting after this print.

27 - july - 2004

these are the first photos taken with my holga camera and
these are also the first photos I have ever developed on my
own. you can tell by the amount of scratches I put on the
film trying to load it onto the spools.
