all-ages LADYFEST SEATTLE INDIE ROCK SHOWCASE! You should check out Ladyfest Seattle 2004. Ms. Laura Pautler is a permanent member of Ripley now! We are now even steven on the boy-girl front. She needs to sing more backups but is generally ready to kick ass. Watch out for her Blueshammer licks.
APRIL SHOWS: Ripley will be playing ROCK ARADIA on December 10th. Come and rock for choice, y'all. Laura of Ruby Tuesday will be joining us on guitar. ||||| Named after the First Officer of the Nostromo space freighter in the classic sci-fi movie "Alien," this Seattle-based band rides on unusual chord voicings, hard-hitting beats, and emotionally charged lyrics that combine to produce compositions as danceable as they are disturbing. The effect has critics debating whether singer/guitarist Jessie S.K. sounds more like Carrie Akre or Kristin Hersh, and the jury is still out on the best set of influences to reveal. ||||| {hypermobile} was recorded by Kip Beelman (Sleater-Kinney, Juno) and mastered by Jack Endino (Nirvana, Soundgarden), all at two venerable local studios (Litho and Reciprocal/Hanzcek). The CD has been well-received on local radio (Ripley has also had on-air shows on KEXP, KSER, and KGRG). Amazon.com: the album is always melodic, sometimes hard, sometimes heavy, sometimes jangly, sometimes sexy, maybe even funny. Yeah, it's a little scary with those lyrics sent up by a sharp woman in a black dress...{hypermobile}, let it jump around in your CD player awhile. Youll like it. Itll be good to you. ||||| Ripley has rocked Seattle venues such as the Crocodile, Sit n Spin, and Chop Suey, and have appeared at Capitol Hill Block Party and the Alki MusicFest. A short list of bands that Ripley has played with locally: the bend, Vandemonium, Tart, The Actual Tigers, Ms. Led, The Fakes, Cober, Dorkweed, & Dear John Letters. Booking: 206.898.5138 |
