End of Winter

Well maybe not officially, but to me, the end of winter is signaled by the first day that is so nice you want to go outside AND actually do go outside and enjoy the day. Sorry to all those work-a-holics that live in a year round cold desolate winter. You guys need to get out there!

That day in Shanghai was yesterday. It was so nice out that I went and played basketball at my local courts at Xujiajui park. There were quite a lot of people playing and the games were pretty good. I played for about 2 hours and today am realizing just how old I've gotten. Lots of aches all over.

I also learned some new Chinese that I can apply to my game. So apparently the mandarin equivalent of "my bad" is (wo de) which is translated as "my". I'm sure that will come in handy. That plus (hao qiu) "good ball" is probably all I need for a while. Score always seems to be kept in Shanghainese, which for now is just out of my league. It pretty much means that I need to play each point like its the last one because it actually could be the last point. I'm always surprised when all the sudden people are leaving the courts... then it hits me. Oh yeah, that must be the end of the game.
