Lindon, the elvish realm between the Blue Mountains and the Great Sea was the last Noldor realm of Middle-Earth. Its first and only King was Gil-galad, who fell on the slopes of Oronduin (Mt Doom) at the end fo the Second Age. Thenceforth Cirdan the Shipwright ruled Lindon as Steward for the House of Fingolfin. Lindon's main purpose in the Third Age was as a place of final preparation and embarcation for the Eldar departing Middle-Earth for the Undying Lands. The great twin-Haven of Mithlond (divided into Forlond and Harldon) was the sole remaining location for the construction of elven vessels capable of taking the 'straight path' to Valinor. |
