The Blue Mountains, forming the western boundary of Eriador, and in the First Age, separating that land from Beleriand. Following the ruin of the fall of Morgroth, the Blue Mountains were broken in two - with the Gulf of Lhun interposing between the northern and southern Mountains. In the first Age the Ered Luin were home to two great Dwarven cities - Belegost and Novgorod. These were greatly damaged or destroyed in the ruin, but after the fall of Kazad-Dum in the mid-Third Age, substantial numbers of Khazad returned to the Blue Mountains. |
