Each child is a gift, fearfully and wonderfully made.  Through my portraits I try to echo a sense of the soul of the individual before me, of his or her innate dignity, grace, beauty.  I work in a traditional manner in oil on linen and charcoal on paper, building my paintings and drawings intricately and gradually.  The paint and the charcoal reflect the translucency and warmth of skin and the timelessness of memory.

When working with each child I draw on my extensive experience as a certified teacher to help make the child comfortable and relaxed in order to draw out his or her natural smile. My experience and certification (levels Pre - Kindergarten through university) teaching at all levels, from students ages 1 to 45, have given me strong people skills and the ability to connect with all ages, skills essential for working with children. When selecting a portrait artist for your child, make sure the artist has plenty of patience with kids,  a genuine love of children, the organizational experience to be prepared for anything, a deep knowledge of his or her field, and the flexibility to work with busy parents' schedules and the unpredictability of life with kids.
