Students create illustrations in the style of children's book author, Eric Carle.
The kids enjoyed reading "The Very Quiet Cricket" by Eric Carle. The
story of a young cricket who finds his own voice after meeting up with the many
other insects who live in his world.
Like Eric Carle's work, our first step in creating our collage pieces was to create some decorative, expressive papers. This we did by making paste paper .
The following week, we looked back on all the insects that the quiet cricket met in the Eric Carle book. Then, using our decorative papers, we cut and pasted shapes to make colorful bugs.
