Left-twisting
Aran diamond and bobble cable
Right-twisting Aran diamond and bobble cable
Left Front: CO 56 st.
Row 1: (K1, p1) rib 13 st, p2, k8, p2, rib 5, p2, k4, p2, rib 5, p2, k4, [seed stitch 7: (p1, k1) 3 times, p1].
Row 2: [seed stitch 7: (p1, k1) 3 times, p1], place marker (pm), p4, k2, rib 5, pm, k2, p4, k2, pm, rib 5, k2, p8, k2, pm, rib 13.
Row 3: continue rib and seed stitch portions, and begin working cables between markers as follows: rib 13, work honeycomb cable between markers, rib 5, work left-twisting cable between markers, rib 5, work snake cable between markers starting with row 5, seed 7.
When piece measures 2 inches, switch from rib to stockinette, but maintain seed stitch button band.
When piece measures 4 inches, at next Òrow 4Ó of middle cable, set up for left-slanting Aran diamond and bobble cable as follows: seed 7, work snake cable as charted, p1, pm, p4, remove marker, k2, p2, M1, p2, k2, remove marker, p4, pm, p1, continue with row as charted. In the next row, begin working left-slanting Aran diamond and bobble chart between middle markers. After row 43 of left-slanting cable and bobble chart, switch to stockinette across the middle section of front, removing middle markers.
Continue in pattern until piece measures 12 inches.
Shape armhole:
Next row (RS): BO 4, continue in pattern.
Work one row in pattern.
Next row (RS): BO 2, continue in pattern.
Work one row in pattern.
Next row (RS): k1, ssk, continue in pattern.
Work one row in pattern.
Repeat these two rows 3 more times (46 st).
Continue in pattern until armhole measures 7 inches.
Shape neck:
Next row (RS): work to 7 st before end, slip and turn as for short row.
Work one row in pattern.
Next row (RS): work to 4 st before end, slip and turn as for short row; slip these 11 stitches to a holder or piece of scrap yarn.
Work one row in pattern.
Next row (RS): work to 3 st before end, k2tog, k1.
Repeat these last two rows 6 more times (29 st).
Shape shoulder:
Next row (WS): work 19 st, slip and turn for short rows.
Work one row in pattern.
Next row (WS): work 10 st, slip and turn for short rows.
Work one row in pattern.
Slip all stitches to another holder to save for 3-needle bindoff.
Right Front: CO 56 st.

Row 3: continue rib and seed stitch portions, and begin working cables between markers as follows: seed 7, work snake cable between markers starting with row 1, rib 5, work right-twisting cable between markers, rib 5, work honeycomb cable between markers, rib 13.

Work one row in pattern.

Work in k1, p1 rib. When work measures 2Ó, switch to stockinette.
Shape armholes:
When work measures 12 inches, BO 4 stitches at beginning of next two rows.
BO 2 stitches at beginning of next two rows.
Next row: K2, ssk, work to 4 st before end, k2tog, k2.
Next row: purl.
Repeat these two rows 3 more times (83 st).
Shape neck:
When work measures 20½Ó, k 31 st, and place on holder (right shoulder), BO 21 st., k31 st. (left shoulder)
Next row: purl.
Next row: k1, ssk, k to end.
Next row: purl.
Next row: k1, ssk, k to 10 st. before end of section, slip and turn for short rows.

Row 2: Rib 22, slip marker, k2, p4, k2, slip marker, rib 22.
Next row: Rib 22, work left-slanting cable between markers, rib 22.
When work measures 2 inches, switch from rib to stockinette, continuing cable pattern.
AT SAME TIME: increase every eighth row as follows: k2, m1, continue in pattern to 2 st before end, m1, k2.
When work measures 4 inches, at next Òrow 4Ó of cable pattern, set up for left-slanting Aran diamond and bobble cable as follows: p18, pm, p4, remove marker, k2, p2, M1, p2, k2, remove marker, p4, pm, p18.
Next row: begin working left-slanting Aran diamond and bobble cable between markers, continuing to increase every eighth row as established. After row 43 of Aran diamond and bobble chart, switch to stockinette.
EXCEPTION: skip increase row just before the end of the cable pattern, to make up for the way cable pulls in stitches.
When there are 71 stitches, stop increasing.
Continue until work measures 16 inches.
Next two rows: BO 4 st, work to end.
Next two rows: BO 2 st., work to end.
Next row; k2, ssk, work to 4 st before end, k2tog, k2.
Next row: work plain to end.
Repeat previous two rows 5 more times.
Work two rows plain.
Next row: k2, ssk, work to 4 st before end, k2tog, k2.
Work three rows plain.
Repeat previous four rows 4 more times.
Next row: k2, ssk, work to 4 st before end, k2tog, k2.
Next row; purl to end.
Next row: k1, ssk, k to 3 st before end, k2tog, k1.

Next 2 rows: BO 3 st, work to end.
Next row: BO remaining 21 stitches.
Right Arm:
Work exactly same as left arm, except substituting right-twisting cable and diamond and bobble cable charts.
Sew on arms and seam arm and side seams.
Collar:
Put collar stitches on scrap yarn back on the needles, and pick up 67 stitches around collar, approximately 1 for each top stitch and 3 for every 4 side stitches.
Next row (RS): Work 7 seed stitches and 4 snake cable in established pattern from sweater fronts. Then [p3, k4] around picked up stitches, ending p3; work 4 snake cable stitches and 7 seed stitches.
Next row (WS): work 7 seed stitches and 4 snake cable in established pattern from sweater fronts. Then [k3, p4] around picked up stitches, ending k3; work 4 snake cable stitches and 7 seed stitches.
Repeat these two rows 5-6 more times, twisting at same time as snake cable chart says to twist, as follows: seed 7, twist 4 snake cable stitches, p3, [twist as for left-twisting cable, p3] 4 times, [twist as for right-twisting cable, p3] 5 times, twist 4 snake cable stitches, seed 7.
After second cable-rib twist, work 3 more rows, then BO purlwise.
Weave in ends and block to desired measurements.
