My Pioneer Sunbonnet (Fall 2001)

Inspiration:

This sunbonnet was supposed to be worn with my peasant dress (as a "pioneer outfit"), but as the whole rig looked way to inaccurate, I decided to make the bonnet to wear by itself.

Materials:

McCALL'S 2337, 1 yard of blue cotton.

Construction:

This sunbonnet was extremely easy to make. The pattern called for ribbon ties, but to make it look nicer, my teacher suggested making ties out of material. It was a real pain to turn them right side out but it was worth it (I paid Lydia a quarter for turning one for me :). A very simple project.

The Finished Bonnet:

This bonnet is very helpful when I am weeding the walkway or garden as it keeps the sun out of my eyes and also protects my extremely sun-sensitive nose :).
