Inspiration:
I've always been in love with the simple yet sophisticated look of a straw hat over a cap, and when I decided to make a Georgian dress, I knew that I'd have to have one. |
Materials:
A straw hat purchased from the Silly Sisters for $20, wide maroon ribbon for ties, white and maroon flowers.
I purchased my hat from the Silly Sisters, and was very impressed by the quality. Unfortunately, I had some problems with the company. I won't go into details, but if you want to purchase from them, make sure you clarify with them when they will ship the item to you. |
Construction:
In the crazy rush the day before the 4th of July, I was so busy that I couldn't start on my hat until after 9:00pm. We had to rehearsh our play for the 4th for the last time around 10:00pm, and so I had to sew the ribbons and flowers on the hat while practicing. It wasn't the most expressive performance that I've ever given, but I was much better the next day :) . |
The Finished Hat:
This hat was a huge success and I was so happy to have it! It's great for keeping the sun out of your eyes and adds such a elegant touch to your outfit. I love it! :)
