My Round-Eared Cap (Summer 2005)

Inspiration:

A proper colonial lady must have a proper cap. So when I made a new ensemble for the 4th of July (05) I decided to make a new one, as I wasn't wild about my mob cap. I wanted something authentic and attractive.

Materials:

Ivory-colored cotton, Kannik's Corner colonial cap pattern, ribbon for ties.

Construction:

I highly recommend this pattern for a fairly simple and absolutely adorable cap. It went together very quickly and didn't give me much trouble.

The only problem was that the whole thing was supposed to be sewn by hand with lots of rolled hems. I discarded this idea and just added a 1/4 seam allowance. It all worked very well and I had no serious problems.

The Finished Cap:

I really love this cap - I think it's one of the nicest designs I've seen in colonial fashions and fits so nicely.
