Inspiration:
As I was making a muslin evening gown to attend a ball in, I decided to make something to wear in my hair. I love making hair accessories to match my dress, and so I really didn't need much in the way of inspiration. |
Materials:
An old piece of plastic boning, wide white ribbon, narrow pink ribbon, pink flowers.
Everything for this project was found around the house, except for the pink ribbon, which I bought. |
Construction:
This was a lot simpler than I anticipated. I took the piece of boning and cut it so that it fit well around my bun. Then I cut the flowers so that they only had little stems and glued them on the boning, starting from each end until they met in the middle. I took the white ribbon, glued in at one end and wove it over and around the flowers until all of the boning was covered; with only the flowers sticking out. Lastly, I cut six pieces of the pink ribbon and glued three pieces to each end of the boning. I tied them securely, stuck two hairpins in to hold the headpiece on, and I was ready to go!

The Finished Headpiece:
I really like how this came out, and it was a lot of fun to make. No way am I paying anyone to make wreaths and crowns for the flower girls in my wedding (that's not happening anytime soon, by the way :), I'll just do them myself! :)
