Miscellaneous Projects:
Here are some of the miscellaneous projects I've done over the years; things that don't fall into the other categories. Enjoy!

Classic Pooh Travel Bag, Blanket and Diaper Wallet:

I found the idea for the Diaper Wallet online here and thought it was an incredibly cute idea. Having purchased more Winnie the Pooh fat quarters at Joanns than I should have, I had plenty of designs to work with. The travel blanket and bag are reversable for lots of cute Pooh Bear fun and the Diaper Wallet also has a ribbon inside so that it can be hung from a doorknob or handle. I love these SO MUCH!!! :)

"Caroling" Bonnet (Fall 06):

I whipped up this bonnet as a favor for a friend's church concert. I used Butterick pattern 4697 and was pretty pleased with the finished result. I'd never done any more milliniery than basic trimming, so it was interesting to see how it came together. That's my sis Rebekah posing in the pictures - she's got a natural "Dickens" look about her...how convenient. :)

Baby Dress and Jacket (Fall 06):

I made this little "Regency-inspired" ensemble for a friend's first baby. I think I used a Simplicity pattern, but I can't find it on their site - will try to dig it up later - and it came out really well. Unfortunately, I can't find my close-up pictures, so this blurry one of it hanging in my sewing room will have to do. :)

UPDATE - 4/07: Now I have pictures of the real dress on the real baby!!! May I present one of the most beautiful babies I have ever met: Katherine Anne Miller.

In the second shot Katherine Anne is being held by my sister Katherine Grace. The last photo shows Katherine at the "City on a Hill" 4th of July Celebration.

Flowered Apron (Spring 06):

This project went together quickly and was very fun to make, but I followed my own inclinations rather than the pattern's intructions and that gave me some problems (sounds similar to the way we disobey God's instructions and make it harder for ourselves. Why do we do that? We know that in the end we have no choice but to submit!). I used Butterick 6567 and really liked the way the pattern went together. The design is too cute and I'd just love to make another one sometime!

Heirloom Mat (Winter 06):

Having discovered my love for heirloom sewing this new year (06), I've had great fun experimenting and trying my hand at making things. This was my first actual "project" and I was really happy with how it came out. I was surprised with how long it took, but I developed certain techniques as I went along which helped to speed it up. The lace insertions were probably the most time consuming - especially the tiny ones - and my machine drove me crazy. For some reason, whenever I was sewing really fast, the thread would break, which really slowed me down. But the whole project was worth it and I am now officially addicted to heirloom sewing! :)

Red Satin Vest (Winter 04 - Winter 05):

This was a very simple project but took me about a year to finish, due to lots of other projects jumping in the way. I used Vogue 7765 and it went together very smoothly. I finally got it finished in December 05 and was very happy with how it turned out. I'd love to use this pattern again!
