Vintage Clothing from the Woodcock Garrison House - Updated March 2006

I have been very privileged to be a part of the historical society of North Attleboro, MA and a volunteer at the historic Woodcock Garrison House. The garrison, which was built in the 1600s now serves as a historic museum full of wonderful pieces from the past.

Here are pictures of some of the garments on display. At least one of the mannequins wears a new wedding dress every year, so look out for new clothing updates!

Keep in mind that very few of the clothes are dated the dates I suggest are based on my own knowledge and study of historical fashion. While I don't think I could be really off, take it all with a grain of salt. :)

A gorgeous light pink wedding gown, that looks like it's from the late 1890s.

This bodice is just a masterpiece! It actually closes from the right shoulder, following the beading across the bust. Very clever!

Detailed shots of the skirt. The beading and details are absolutely gorgeous.

You can also see the bottom of the long slender sleeves. There are actually three or four buttons on the back of each sleeve.

A close up of the back of the bodice. The beading is so exquisite.

The skirt is so long and heavy - the dress must weigh a ton - I wish there was room to spread the whole train out on the floor.

A "Revolutionary War Uniform". Apparently, the historical society always believed this was genuine, as it definitely looks old. But after they had it examined by an expert, it proves only to be a reproduction. Mrs. Harrison thinks it may have been used during the country's 100th anniversary.

Still a neat item, but not as neat as we thought it was.

This is a wedding gown that has the looks of 1900-05 (few of the gowns have actual dates recorded, so I've had to rely on my knowledge of historic attire, even when it's not the greatest).

Some of these shots are a bit blurry, but you can see the detail work pretty well. This gown is in excellent condition.

These shoes go with the gown and are so tiny!

This beautiful blue gown looks 1905-07ish to me. The embroidery is incredible!

This is one of my favorite gowns in the collection. Probably 1910, from the silhouette it gives. An astounding piece!

Aren't the details on this gown amazing?!?!

This bed jacket matches the last dress nearly perfectly, although I believe they do not belong together! Funny! This jacket is very heavy and has a weighted hem.

Another wedding dress, this one from the 1880s. This gown would be incredible with a proper bustle!
