My 1910 Apron (Fall 2005)

Inspiration:

Although I really don't like cooking, I hate messing up my clothes when I do. Also, doing yard work or any other messy project can ruin your clothes. Therefore: I decided to make an apron. I knew immediately that I didn't want an ugly modern apron - it had to be vintage. And why not from my favorite era? Sense and Sensibility's Edwardian Apron pattern looked perfect.

Materials:

Sense and Sensibility's Edwardian Apron pattern, some gorgeous cotton fabric (I love it! :).

Construction:

This pattern went together very well. I had no problems with anything. The only thing that was a little on the tough side was all the bias binding (for that reason I wouldn't recommend this pattern to a beginner). The apron took me longer than I originally planned, because I made my Muslin Evening Gown while in the middle of it. But as far as actual sewing time, it went quickly and I am very happy with it.

The Finished Apron:

This apron gives excellent coverage, and whenever I put it on I feel like a heroine out of one of L.M. Montgomery's novels. ;) Special thanks to my wonderful cousin, Jon, who willingly dressed up and posed for some pictures; he's too great!
