Old Lectures

Well, that's a pleasant surprise. Thank you, Mr. Whitmer, for posting the link to my old lectures at the Connecticut Valley Conference on Reformed Theology in 1997 and 2002. The 1997 lecture was the first time I publicly explored the complex relationship between the doctrine of the Trinity and trinitarian liturgy (lex orandi, lex credendi). This, of course, became the two chapters on that topic in my book.

The 2002 lecture explains how the covenant is grounded in God's tri-personal relations. I just listened to it again and like this lecture. Can I say that? And, since then, Ralph Smith has refined this and made it the basis of his new book Eternal Covenant. The one thing I wanted to do in that lecture but was not able to because of time constraints was to critique the notion of a meritorious covenant of works. Ralph has done so admirably in his book.

There are some other nice lectures available at this site as well. Peter Leithart's two lectures in 1995 are quite good.
