New Hampshire Conference

Today I taught Sunday School and preached at Tri-City Covenant Church in Somersworth, NH. I also preached at the worship service. The covenant renewal service was very well done, most of the congregation's part was sung. Tom Clark, the pastor, has been training his people in liturgical worship for many years now and their worship reflects that. This whole weekend has been great. The elders, deacons, and people of the church were very hospitable and kind to me. I really did feel at home with them. They made my work there very easy. This was one of the most enjoyable conferences I've done in quite some time.

I was also able to see and talk with two long distance friends--John Sundet, an PCA elder from Coventry, Conn, and Brian Nolder, a OPC pastor from Bangor, Maine. Brian brought me a spectacular blueberry port made in Maine. I can't wait to get home and try drink it with my wife. A few years ago he got me a box of great wines from this winery.

This was the first time for me to visit New Hampshire. I've not been to New England that much, but every time I visit I am amazed at how much forest and woodland there is. Some in the Midwest have this misconception about New England, that it is overpopulated. I guess we think this because it was the first part of our country to be settled in the 17th century. But driving north a little ways out of Boston is all one need do to discover that there's a lot of open country up here.

Thursday evening a big snow storm blew through the area. Five inches fell in one hour at one point during the early morning hours on Friday. The next day everything was white. The snow was heavy and wet so it stuck to tree limbs and trunks, even fences and signs. It was spectacular to see, even if it was somewhat treacherous to drive though.
