| Ricky's OK | | Date Created: May 28, 2005, 08:09 PM |
We dropped Ricky off at the vet's this morning at 7:50am for his neutering surgery, had some breakfast, did some puppy supply shopping, and picked him up again at 10:30am.
He's doing well, but has been very groggy, extremely cranky, and somewhat pissed off at us at the moment. We were going to go to our friend's birthday party/BBQ today, but we couldn't leave Ricky in his current state without supervision.
The Doc said that he should be up and about by this evening and he has been, but he's still sore and hurts himself everytime he tries to jump on our furniture (which he keeps trying to do). He's been alternating between staying under the couch (one of his favorite hiding places) and resting on his day-bed in the crate. He was waddling with a wide stanced limp earlier (you would too if YOU were castrated) but he's moving a bit better now. Still not 100%, more like 60% at this point. According to various online sources it will be about 1 - 2 days for the discomfort to subside.... then the sutures that the vet put in will be absorbed within 2 weeks. Hope he's right about him not needing the "elizabethan collar"... he's been licking down there like he still had a pair. |
