Continuing their Star Wars Week, HowStuffWorks.com has setup a bunch of pages detailing the history and background of the Sith encompassing the movies, the books, the comics, and everything in between. Check it out Here.
If you are avoiding spoilers, i'd wait until after you watch Episode III before checking the article out...but afterwards, it's very much worth reading (even if you're an EU buff and think you know all there is to know about the Sith).
