It Doesn't Bounce                                                                                             by Jeanne Thormodson

I was talking with a woman the other day, and she made me laugh so hard that I asked her if I could write down her story and share it with others (if I didn't mention her name) and God bless her, she agreed.

She had a mastectomy and wore breast prostheses, and one day while in the kitchen, on a stool, she slipped and fell on her face. Now you may ask me, "What is funny about that?” and I must say, "nothing indeed!" but the funny part was that in recalling this incident she commented that she really was surprised that the breast prostheses didn't provide more cushion to her fall. It's not like she expected to bounce or anything, but apparently it was a sore disappointment where cushioning was expected, and sore is the right word. After not bouncing (or even gently squishing to the ground), her chest was sore and she went to apply heat to it. She was a bit into this process when she thought that there was a problem with the hot pack because she couldn't feel any heat, only to realize that she was heating her breast prostheses!
