WHY DEVOTIONALS WITH THE CANCER EXPERIENCE IN MIND As I thought about the apostle Paul imprisoned, flogged, exposed to death again and again, receiving five times forty lashes minus one, being beaten with rods, stoned once, shipwrecked three times, and yet he sang and was thankful to God all the way through, I thought, why can’t I be like that with my attitude as I face my own trial with cancer. The nurses would say that attitude was everything and would make a huge difference in how the treatments went and they were right. There was a huge difference between my first chemo treatment and my second as I chose to include God in every aspect of my life with my cancer and allow him to use me in this experience. As Christians, we know that we are to witness to the world in all situations yet Satan uses many things of this sinful world to crush us and keep us from being productive, but Satan is not the one who numbers our days on this earth, he may try to crush us, but in II Corinthians chapter four it says that we are crushed but not destroyed. We have a hope and a future that no one can take away. The point of this devotional page is to help those going through the trials of cancer to grasp this hope, future, and the victory that is in Christ while going through the trial of cancer. My hope is that the triune God will strengthen you and that like the apostle Paul you will have inner joy, no matter how difficult your current situation may be. |
