Behind the scenes
Jeanne is the wife of a Lutheran pastor/missionary to Russia, and after returning to America, she developed third stage Colon Cancer. She has been Cancer free since 2006 and knows first hand the need for Christ centered materials designed specifically for those with Cancer. "It's too hard of a road to go alone," she says. These devotions are not a cure all, quick fix, or anything more than what it is and that is recognizing that we cannot do anything without God’s help (John 15: 5).
The Call for Help by Jeanne Thormodson ©
Something had gone wrong; the nurses in the chemo room were going to rush the woman next to me to emergency. She turned to me and said, "Help me I am so scared." Quickly I grabbed her hand and prayed out loud and she started to grow calmer. "You are a Christian," she said. "Do you have tracts I can take with me?" I looked in my purse and saw my pastor’s card with scriptures references on the back and a Gideon bible on the shelf. I had no time to show her how to use it, so I laid it on her and said, "The most important thing is to believe in Jesus as your Savior and ask someone there to read this bible to you when you get to emergency." Then I sat in silence as I pondered what it would be like to go through such an ordeal alone. Thank you Jesus that although I may sit alone, I am never alone! Lord, let me use what days you give me to help others that have cancer to come closer to you.
Amen.
