1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
2. Combine soup and bean liquid. Stir in beans and pepper.
3. Place in greased shallow baking dish.
4. If using bread cubes, toss with melted butter and scatter over casserole. If using onions, simply scatter over casserole (omit butter).
5. Bake at 15 minutes until bubbly. Increase baking time if recipe is doubled.
