Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Cream butter; slowly add in powder sugar. Blend in egg yolk and vanilla.
Combine dry ingredients. Blend well into butter mixture. Stir in coconut and chocolate chips.
Shape into walnut-sized balls and place on ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten slightly with the bottom of a glass that has been dipped in sugar.
Bake 12 minutes.
Notes: Interesting crumbly texture.
