Jeremiah: The Weeping Prophet
We ended our summer study of Old Testament Prophets with Jeremiah, the weeping prophet.

In Bible Quest we first read the story from our Bibles.
It's fun to bring friends to Sunday school!
The "laughing girls" study the "weeping prophet!"
We learned about how Jeremiah threw the pot on the ground and broke it
We took our own pots and smashed them into pieces.
We took the broken pottery pieces and created a mosaic heart with them
In Moved by the Spirit, we learned to sign the song "The Potter's ...
We practiced for several weeks & then we did it in worship.
We formed Christian symbols from Play-doh as we listened to the song.
We talked about God being the potter like in the song.
Some of us molded hearts, some of us made crosses.
K-3 graders write what they've learned about prophets this summer.
Pastor Reed as Jeremiah, the weeping prophet, came to visit our class!
He told us about his visit to the potter and what God's message was.
Then he took us to the "potter's workshop" to see a real potter!
She showed us how to mold and re-mold the clay!
It was amazing to watch the clay being formed and reformed!
Just like in the story of Jeremiah!
We enjoyed getting to touch the clay on the wheel and mold the clay.
So many hands!
Everyone wanted to touch the clay!
We all took turns trying our hand at molding it!
It felt cold and wet and squishy!
One of the finished pieces from the wheel!
Then we all got a chance to make our own pots!
We molded and formed and formed and molded!
We pinched a little here and there.
Just a little more on this side....
A little help is always welcome!
Thinking about the story, I'm sure...
Hard at work!
a pinch here.... a squeeze there and soon we have a finished pot!
What shall I make?
What do you think of my bowl?
My masterpiece!
Do you like my pot?
Wow! It's a cereal bowl!
A great piece of art!
Wow! You made three!
What do you think?
Wow! Look at the size of that pot!
It was a messy time, but lots of FUN!
In Solid Rock Cafe we made clay from Kool-Aid!
It smelled great, but don't eat it!
We formed something about ourselves with the clay.
Then we had to squish it and start all over again...
We learned that God uses hard times or times when we mess up to
help us grow and become all we can be!
