On Sunday Oct. 2nd several hundred people gathered at the Centennial Park Pavilion for Nashville’s first SlutWalk. After words by the organizers the women and men walked along West End Avenue carrying signs, banners and even messages painted on their bodies. The walk was an effort to draw awareness to victims rights on the issue of rape, sexual assault and violence against women. The SlutWalk movement started in Canada in response to a Toronto Police Officer’s suggestion that in order not to be victimized, women should avoid dressing like sluts. Sunday's event ended back at the pavilion with a candlelight vigil.
