Michele has been actively engaged in the field of community health education and program evaluation and research for over 12 years in diverse ways, both before and after she completed a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in the area of Health Behavior and Health Education from the University of North Carolina School of Public Health. Her personal experience over the past 10 years both growing and using herbs has deepened and affirmed her belief in the healing power of plants. Her deep love of plants combined with her desire to create a nurturing and sustainable healing alternative for people led her to complete the East West School of Herbology’s professional herbalist training. She choose this school not only for its focus on teaching a wholistic healing system to apply and use herbs, but equally for its unique focus on integrating and applying the diagnostic and herbal traditions of traditional Chinese medicine, traditional Ayurvedic medicine, and western herbalism.
Through her studies to the present, she continues to mentor and study with practicing herbalists in a variety of traditions, including traditional Chinese medicine, traditional Ayurvedic medicine, and western herbalism. Her herbal practice offers a unique opportunity to combine both her learnings and experience in the field of public health and working with plants to support people in their own healing journey. As an herbalist, she likes connecting people to the rhythms and cycles of nature and the magic and beauty of plants. She has a special interest and knowledge in the use of tonic herbs and formulas to address chronic depletion and imbalances caused by illness or emotional trauma, the use of herbs for psychological/mental health issues, as well as the use of herbs for women’s health issues (specifically difficulties with menstruation and menopause). She is a professional member of the American Herbalists Guild and an East West Certified Herbalist Click Here for more details about the requirements of becoming an East West Certified Herbalist). |
