Autodialer for CounterPath® SoftPhones

Usage

Enter phone numbers into your Apple Address Book normally. Click on a phone number tab or control mouse click on a phone number and you will be presented with the option to dial the number.

This script assumes that you are able to dial PSTN number via a VOIP provider (such as, BroadVoice, Vonage, etc) and that the SIP proxy for this provider is configured as the default SIP proxy (number 1) in your CounterPath SoftPhone. If your PSTN provider is not proxy 1, you need to set the property DefaultSIPproxy to the domain name for this provider, save, and recompile the script.

You can associate numbers with other SIP proxies by using the full SIP URI syntax. Enter phone numbers into the Apple Address Book as sip:Username-or-Number@sip-domain-name. For example, to call a person on FreeWorldDialup, use: sip:612@fwd.pulver.com. To call someone on Ineen.com, you would use sip:200003@ineen.com.

If your VOIP provider supports encrypted communication, for example via Xtunnels, you should use in all cases sips:UserName-or-Number@sip-domain-name in order to flag that these communications should be encrypted.

This script recognizes Skype phone numbers in the form sips:UserName-or-Number@skype.com and does not offer to dial them with your CounterPath SoftPhone because Skype uses incompatible VOIP protocols. Another script is available from this source for autodialing Skype numbers, including use of SkypeOut.

If you use the SIP URI format in Apple Address Book 3.1.2 or earlier, you may need to turn off "Automatically Format Numbers" in the application preference pane under "Phone". Apple's formatter does not understand sip or sips URIs.

Have fun!
