I have been a public school teacher for 30 years. Retirement is just around
the corner.
Bill Bowers
Bill and wife, Debi (Doblado, class of
1969) recently returned to Barstow, California after a 3 year tour in Southern
Spain, as the Public Works Transportation Superintendent at Naval Station
Rota. Bill has been with the Department of Defense for nearly 30 years,
with tours in Subic Bay, Philippines; Cherry Point, NC; Subase New London, CT;
Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; MCLB Barstow, CA; and Rota, Spain. Bill and Debi
have three sons, Wade (28), Nick (26), and Eric (24). They plan to retire
near Richard and Donna Green in Olalla, WA.

Alice Brandvig Saare
I'm a retired Probation Officer and my husband Dale just retired
on June 23rd from teaching in the South Bay Union Elementary School District
after 32 years. We have been married 31 years and have lived in the same
house for 30 years.
We have one daughter Monica, age 27 years. She just moved
back in with us last Thursday for two months until her new apartment opens up.
I am so upset that I have a wedding the evening of the
reunion (my nephew) which is in
Vista! I am going to drive separately and will try to get there
ASAP but probably not before 9pm.
I hope everyone stays around so I can see all.
Looking forward to this and thank you to
all who have helped.
Kathi Cady Roberson
Don and I just celebrated our 39th
anniversary. We have a daughter, Julie, who is married and lives
in Alameda. She has a daughter and is pregnant. Our son Tom is married and
lives in Ladera Ranch with two boys. We moved from La Mesa in 1978 to
Santa Barbara, and relocated in 1984 to our present home in Mission Viejo.
I was on the Board of the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation and ran the
Holiday Card program on a full time volunteer basis until my oldest grandson
was born. I spend time taking care of Jacob and Shane and traveling
north to visit my granddaughter, Veronica.
Here is a picture of Don and Kathi with
their grandchildren.

Bruce Carlson
I've spent the last 30 years in the No. Central Washington Area as
a River Outfitter offering rafting trips throughout Wa. & Ore. Did retire
from that 3 years ago and now a semi-retired landlord. My sweetie Sorena is a
counselor at our local community college (where Don Coryell first coached).
My daughter Autumn and Grandson Caden live right behind us.
Classmate Dave Urbanac and I went through the Army basic training beginning
in Sept 66. Did spend a year in Nam which now looking back, has affected many
of the choices I have made.
Did join Chi Delta Theta frat with classmates John Colwell, Dick
Green, Dave Urbanac and for awhile 65' grad Bill Freels.
Did attend SD State, worked for an employment agency, then left for
the
Grand Tetons in Wyo. to regroup and try to refind my lost spiritual
values from Nam. Later worked for Wa. State as an employment counselor/Indus
Relations Rep while starting my business. Also co-founded a Vietnam Vet Support
Group in Wenatchee where we finally worked ourselves out of a job.
Classmates Larry Jones and Donley Ross III live in this area and
just heard
that Dick Green recently moved to the west side of the state.
This will be my first reunion. Couldn't face the first as lost too
many brothers. I'm really looking forward to seeing all of you, filling some
gaps in our "loss of youthful innocence" and seeing my family as
well.
Let's have a ball!
Larry and Pat (Cresse) Calfee
Married: July
8, 1966
Children:
Gary, 36, Electrical Engineer
Greg, 32, Mechanical Engineer
Chris, 28, Water Law Attorney
Grand daughter, Hope, 4. We love our three boys, but we always had Hope
in
our hearts!
Larry's
Career:
I received my BS in
Biology (pre Vet) from SDSU in 1969. Since I was not accepted into the
Veterinary program at Davis and had the draft breathing down my neck, I joined
the Air Force where I received Operating Room Technician training.
While stationed at Biloxi, MS I took additional pre Vet course and reapplied to
the Auburn University Vet program, again without success. At this point I
needed to change my career goals. I learned that the Air Force had opened
a Physician Assistant program and applied. I was accepted and completed
that training in 1977 earning a second BS in Medical Science from the
University of Nebraska. In 1981 I was accepted into a Surgical Physician
Assistant training program at Sheppard AFB, Texas. In 1985 we were
transferred to Travis AFB in Fairfield, CA where we eventually retired from the
Air Force with 20 years of service in 1989. For the past thirteen years I
have been working as a Surgical Physician Assistant with a multi specialty medical
group mainly assisting with orthopedic, vascular and general surgery.
Pat's Career:
Full time
Mom. In between PCS moves every three years (sometimes more often) for
the Air Force, and in my "spare time," I have always been involved
with community based volunteer programs and projects. Currently I am
working as a Tax Counselor for the Elderly, which is an AARP program run in
conjunction with the Internal Revenue Service. For several years I worked
at H&R Block and with a local CPA.
Larry's Hobbies:
Woodworking (has
made several heirloom furniture pieces), computers, Country Western dancing,
and sailing for the last 20 years. Five years ago he bought a 34-foot
Catalina sloop named "Top Priority," which it is! Many of our
friends named their boats after their wives (Cracklin Rose, Old What's Her
Name, etc.) so I always say he named it after me because I'm his Top
Priority! We mostly sail San Francisco Bay but have ventured outside the
Golden Gate several times to Half Moon Bay and Monterey. Sailing at only
6 to 8 knots, time limits how far we can go at this point.
Pat's Hobbies:
Interior Design
(for which I earned an AA Degree), Country Western dancing, gourmet cooking for
friends and family, photography, Lighthouses (I learned to appreciate these
Coastal Ladies after coming close to rocky shores in a boat mainly controlled
by wind and waves), and, yes, sailing! It was either sailing or
D-I-V-O-R-C-E! Guys like women in their boats to watch them tame the seas
and do other manly things, but I've pulled my share of ropes too!
Future Plans:
Travel!
Larry's dream retirement would be to sail that boat into the sunset and keep
going. I'm thinking a land yacht would be nice.
See you all soon!
Norma Colwell Richardson
Hi all, Wayne and I were married in 12-23-95, on my Dads 90th
Birthday. We lost all of the old mementos and photos of our last 40yrs,
in the pine fires. We got the dogs out safely, we were lucky
. So, we're kind of starting over. The fire did bring a good thing.
My granddaughter(15yrs) and myself lived with my Dad for a month after the
fire. Talk about a generation gap. But what a gift. Dad
passed away Feb 17th at 98 yrs. He never got to see our new home.
The house is almost ready for us to move in. We're waiting
for the utility hook-ups.
After working 26 yrs, with the handicapped, I retired. I'm
still working, but this time for fun. I work at a linen outlet, having a
blast.
I also raise Show quality Boston Terriers. We have 7
Champions to our breeding.
Wayne likes to spend his spare time in Wy. hunting and
building a cabin type house.
Can hardly wait to see everyone

Dee Cummings Brandvig
I have been retired for three years after working as an
Executive Assistant for various companies in and around San Diego. My
real occupation has always been designing and sewing in all its
various forms.
In 2001, I moved to Eagar, Arizona and spend much of
my time quilting and fishing. I have two sons and one grandson who all
live in San Diego.
Larry Evans
Char and I have been married 38 years. Four Grandkids each
born in a different country. One in Japan, one in the USA, one in Germany
and one in England. Char owns a small business in Girard, PA and I am
Western Regional Sales Manager for a local manufacturer. Lots of airplane
time.
Education wise I started out as a Petroleum Geology Major and
ended up with an MBA emphasising Human Behavior.
I enjoy woodworking and still mess about with cars. My
current toy is a 1988 Thunderbird Turbocoupe. Purrs like a kitten till
the Turbo sings.
We moved to Erie, PA about ten years ago when I was recruited by
another local manufacturer. Quite an adjustment for two ex beach
Hippies. We had a quiet Winter last year, only about 110 inches of snow.
We hope everyone is well and send our best wishes to all.
Larry & Char Evans
Carol Gale Poulson
Some of you may remember that Bill Poulson (M.V. class of
63)and I married just one month after graduation. We have lived in San
Diego for all but 2 of our 40 years together. Most of those years we
lived in a home we built on Bancroft Point not too far from Monte Vista.
Infact our first 4 children graduated from good ole M.V. One daughter was
editor of the yearbook and worked with Mr. Ferguson........funny, huh?
We have 11 children........yes, eleven........7 daughters and 4
sons. After the first 4 were through school, we began homeschooling and
loved it. We finished our 16th year of homeschooling this past year when
our youngest, Amber age 16, entered college. Our other 10 children are
happily married and are successful, contributing members of the communities
where they live from San Diego to Virginia. They have blessed us with 37
grandchildren and we expect our 38th in November. Nothing makes us happier
than being with our family.
Six years ago we left Spring Valley for beautiful
Fallbrook. We love it here. It reminds us of Calavo Gardens where
we both grew up. The hills are covered in avocado trees and the village
is a friendly place to be. It is home.
We have had our own construction company for the last 36 years
and it has served us well. Bill is presently designing and selling
swimming pools for a local builder here in Fallbrook. He likes
the slower pace and I like having him home since he works from his
home office.
I stay busy with family
and church and my business involving financial and physical health.
During the school year I teach High School Juniors a religion class before
school every morning. I love starting my day early with these great
youth. It gives me great hope for our future leaders.
We're trying to make it to the reunion and hope to see the
entire class there.

I have spent the past 53 years in school: as a student, a
teacher, and an
Administrator!!!
After high school, I attended San Diego State then went on to
Cal Poly San
Luis Obispo where I earned a BS in Home Economics, a teaching
credential and
a Masters in Education.
I taught for 17 years in both California and
Arizona. As California
education was in a decline in the early 80Ős I went
back to school I earned another Masters in Education
Administration from Cal
State Fullerton.
My first Administrative position was at a Year Round
7,8,9 Jr. High in Fontana, California. From there I moved to Duarte,
California, and then on to Springfield, Oregon, where I spent
time both as a
high school Assistant Principal and a Middle School
Principal. I just
retired after 35 years of work and have moved back to So.
California.
I am a mother of two, Terri, 39 and Dan, 37 and grandmother
of Ryanne, 14,
who is about to start high school in San Dimas, California. My husband
passed away 8 years ago.
Don Hanchett
I retired two years ago from the Pentagon after 31 years in the
Military. I
have spent the last two years as the Dean of Students at Southern
Virginia
University. My wife
Cynthia is a professor in Psychology at the same
university. We are a
blended family and have 13 children expecting our 25th
grandbaby. All of our
children have either graduated from college, Law
School, Dental School, etc. or are currently attending a university
except
our youngest who is 17 years old. She will attend in the Fall. Eleven of
the thirteen are married and so we are enjoying being grandparents
very,
very much!
My wonderful twin sister Dona is in Twin Falls, Idaho. She and her husband,
Glen Pratt, have eight children and 27 grandchildren, I
believe. They are
all really wonderful and doing well.
Bob Hunsberger
I earned a BS in
Engineering and an MBA from San Diego State. I am an Engineer
for Solar Turbines and have worked for them for 27 years.Currently I am
in product development responsible
for leading the teams designing new
packages for their industrial gas turbines. The package is everything but the engine itself. meaning
structural support, start, lube,
fuel systems, etc.
Charlotte and I have been married for 36 years. We have 2 boys , Allen and David. Allen is married and we have two grand-daughters Jocelyn (3 1/2) and Megan (8 months), Allen and Melissa live here in
Ramona and David lives in San Diego.
We also live in Ramona and are on 5 acres in a custom home we built.
Hobbies and interests.
Way too many. My
primary hobby is flying and has been since high school days. Some may remember
that I was flying my Dad's
airplane then. I have restored and
fly my own 1947 Cessna 140. By restore, I mean that I personally completely disassembled the
airplane myself and rebuilt it,
engine, paint, upholstery, airframe, etc. to authentic factory new
condition. I am
currently in a long term project restoring a 1971 Datsun 240Z so
Charlotte can be "the coolest grandma in town". This again is a total disassembly,
ground up project. I also
recently inherited a 1949 Indian
motorcycle in near original condition from the owner since 1952. I have known the owner and the
motorcycle my whole life.
Right now, I'm just getting
it running.
Charlotte and I also believe in community service. When the boys were younger, we were very active in the Boy
Scouts. Now that they are
grown, I still do some Scout
activities. We also are active supporters
of the local Guy B, Woodward museum here in Ramona. Another interest we enjoy is travel to do wine tasting. And ,of course, we are active interested grandparents.

cousins for us to have our 1st big, "Jackson Reunion" in July, since
our Aunt Hattie's 105th B.D. I will not be going this year, as I canŐt do
anymore excessive traveling for quite awhile. I have my own web site, which is
under construction under Geo Cities, for my dad's mom's ancestors, & 1 for
his dad's families called the "Jackson's" under
"Myfamily.com". I feel I have been Blessed my My Heavenly Father
through out my entire life. I have received knowledge, wisdom, understanding
& know who I am, where I am going, & how to get wherever it is. Our
Faith & diligence has been worth anything we've been through. We are active

you take in your lifetime.

Jim and I have been married for 40 years
and have four children (3 girls and 1 boy) and nine grandchildren (5 girls and
4 boys). After working at Solar Turbines for 34 years, Jim retired
in 2000 only to go back a year later as a Consultant and he's been working nearly
full time since. With news that Jim was going to retire, I made the
decision to quit my job. I worked at Sharp Memorial Hospital, Dept.
of Pathology for 19 years and then went to work for SAIC (Science
Applications International Corporation) for 6 years, finishing my working
career as a Medical Information Systems Analyst/Engineer. I'm still very
busy and do not know how I had time to work. We enjoy a casual lifestyle,
occasional trips, and spending time with our big kids and little kids as well as
the rest of our family and friends. Hope to see you at the reunion.

Judy Johnson Castle
After graduating from Monte Vista, I
spent four years at San Diego State and graduated with a teaching credential. I
taught in Santee School District for 33 years, mostly kindergarten and first
grade and I mostly retired three years ago. I still work 25 days a year in the
district doing assorted computer based assignments. In 1990 I received my Masters in Educational Psychology from
USIU.
A few weeks after completing my Masters
Degree I married Jim Castle and we bought a house in the hills east of El
Cajon.
I have two children, David, 34, a
software engineer, and Jenny, 25, an assistant manager at Starbucks from my
marriage to Tom Blaettler, which ended in divorce, but we remain friends. I
have a sister in New York, a brother in Colorado and a mother in a senior home
in La Mesa.
I enjoy travel, photography, reading,
scrapbooking, computers, movie making, and gardening. We have taken many
cruises and our next one is to the Mediterranean in September for a cruise from
Lisbon to Rome. In December we are scheduled to sail to Hawaii and back.
Update:
We have moved to Tigard, Oregon to be
near son David, Daughter-in-law Christy and two year old grandson Eric. My
daughter Jenn just got married to Rob and they have now moved up to the
Portland area also.
The first picture is son Dave, wife
Christy and their not yet born son. Second picture is Misty, our dog of unknown
origins. The third picture is Jim and I with daughter Jenn and boyfriend Rob.

Donna Jury
I work for the Treasury Department in the Washington DC
metropolitan area. I have spent thirty one years here. I have one
child, Matthew, who is twenty eight years old. I enjoy going to art
museums, the Smithsonian Institution, reading, and, of course,
politics. I belong to the Smithsonian Resident Associate Program, which
is a great way to see everyone from Neil Armstrong to Tim
Russert. The most important thing in this town right now is the
return of Joe Gibbs as the coach of the Washington Redskins. No adjective
can describe how amazed and thrilled we were the morning we woke up to the news
that he might come back. We are looking forward to a very exciting Fall.
On a serious note, things
have taken on a different dimension here the last few years, as you can
imagine. On September 11th, we could see the smoke from the Pentagon
from the windows of our building on the 10th floor where I worked. We
were asked to leave as quickly as possible - with news/rumor there
was an incoming plane to the Capitol and a bomb at the State
Department. Getting home never felt so good. (Our building
is in the Maryland suburbs. Not being part of the exodus from DC was a
welcome relief. I worked downtown for fourteen years and always loved it
and felt like a tourist, but now being in the suburbs has some
pluses.) This last sentence reminded me of something that was really
fun. For three years I worked in the Treasury Annex, across from the Main
Treasury Building, which is next to the White House. On winter days,
going out the front door, you could look over and see the White House in the
falling snow. I really loved those years.
But.... I earned a Teaching
Credential from San Diego State before coming to Washington in 1973. I
hope to teach when I retire. And I definitely plan to return to San Diego
for my (even more) mature years.
Donna and son Matt taken during the 25th
reunion weekend.
