This past week has been pretty fun and crazy. Last Thursday was the beginning of the 2008 Commencement Show. I had my video playing which garnered rave reviews. No matter where I went on campus people, strangers, recognized me. Dozens of people approached me "hey, you're John Beck!", "Great video! It's hilarious!", I've gotten a lot of them. There were others that suggested I enter film festivals. One person even said in 10 years I should be the new host of the Late Late Show. I felt as if I were famous. Even MICA trustees approached me, as did the president and provost. I've known the president and provost for years now so they already knew me. It was great. That all lead up to the graduation ceremony on Monday. Yes, I finally graduated. During the ceremony there was a native american that the school gave the gift of tobacco to in which he began a song to summon spirits. It was incredible. Then the MICA graduates in the MICA a cappella group did "Under Pressure" by Queen mixed with "Ice Ice Baby" by Vanilla Ice. It was the coolest graduation ever and I was a part of it. The honorary degrees and medal of honors got a bit boring but other than that it was incredible. The teachers and students alike wore some outrageous outfits. Afterwards my parents, sister and her husband all went to Brewer's Art for dinner. Delicious food. Delicious beer! A couple days later Whitney and I went downtown to a hat store, Hippodrome Hatters. I've been wanting a nice winter hat for a while now and I finally got one. That's a picture of me with my hat on. I just have to wait for winter to wear it. I'm sure there's a lot more that happened in the past week. I just can't remember it all. That's the basics. Oh, and I met a lot of interesting new people. Well, just a few. See ya next time! | ![]() |
