There were drinks available - and even some cups for people to drink out of - eventually! Along with most of the artists who, after driving back to mine to drop the cars off & to get changed in a convoy of 4 cars so everyone knew where they were going, arrived at 8:30pm when the opening was supposed to finish :-/ (It took us a bit longer than it would usually as I had to keep stopping to make sure everyone was still behind me - the worst part was when everyone WAS still behind - but i thought they weren't and stopped anyway causing all of the traffic behind us to stop thinking there was a traffic jam, when there wasn't one....(i'll shut up soon honest).
We were also supposed to have an after show party / gig on the night - first at The Brook Cafe in Quiggins which was cancelled the day before so we tried to move it to Hannah's bar - but that also got cancelled - so we managed to stay a little later at the gallery until we had to leave at 10:30pm and everyone who was going to play music for us played at the gallery instead - yay!
Thanks to Jackie for taking the photos on the night, buying the drinks for the opening (even though she was one of the few sober ones!), supplying us with some decent tools to hang the show up, for teaching me how to use quark express and design the flyers and how to create websites! Is there anything that woman can't do?
Well she never finished her sculpture for the exhibition or practised the saxophone for the opening - I don't know you'd think with all that spare time she has while re-designing and completely renovating her 3 story victorian house she'd have no excuse! There is always the next exhibition! ;-) Take a look at the house that Jack(ie) built & more - click on the link above...
Also cheers to Karen who has invigilated the two Long Journey Home exhibitions for the rest of us who didn't have the time to look after the show on a day to day basis!
