Frequently Asked Questions
- What is Brennan Healing Science?
Brennan Healing Science (BHS) is a science of healing originated and taught by Barbara Brennan at her school, the Barbara Brennan School of Healing. BHS is based on a multidimensional model of life. Healing occurs when damage is repaired on the appropriate dimensions and integrated with the other dimensions.
- What is the multidiensional model of life?
There are four dimensions in the BHS model. The four dimensions are the physical, auric, hara and core star. These four dimensions are part of our life experience, even though we may not always be aware of them.
- What are these dimensions?
Physical: The physical or material dimension is the dimension of matter. This includes our physical bodies. The body we can see and touch.
Aura: The dimension of the aura is the dimension of the human energy system, or the human energy field (HEF). In this dimension we experience our physical sensations, our emotions, and our mental process. This is also where we experience our personal relationships as well as our relationships to what we create. And finally this is the dimension where we have our spiritual experiences. Divine will, divine love and the divine order.
Hara: In this dimension we experience clarity and single-minded purpose. It is a dimension of pure intention. And when we are solidly in hara we know what we want and move towards it with confidence and ease. With no wasted effort and with obstacles easily overcome.
Core star: This is where we experience our oneness with God or enlightenment.
- Are BHS healings effective?
BHS is safe and effective for everyone and belief in the BHS healing model outlined above isn't required for the healings to be effective. All that is required from the recipient is a wanting or an intention to heal themselves.
- What types of things are helped by BHS healings?
Generally speaking anytime one of the areas mentioned above (physical, auric, hara and corestar) don't seem to be working with the other parts then a healing could help repair it and integrate it with the other dimensions. Often in life this appears as a circumstance that keeps repeating itself. For instance, running into the same types of people and having similar fights with them. Or always injuring a certain part of your body. Getting into a personal relationship and only being able to go so far with it, even though you would like it to go deeper. And getting stuck or frozen when trying to do something that you really want to do and perhaps have wanted to do it for a long time. There are other examples too, they are just to numerous to list all of them here.
- Would a healing help broken bones?
In the auric dimension there are sub dimensions or levels of the field. On some of the levels the HEF is arranged as lines (or planes). And on other levels the energy is unstructured and flowing like a fluid. In the case of a broken bone not only does the bone and surrounding soft tissue get damaged, but the HEF gets damaged too. On the structured levels the lines of light, like the bone, can be broken. And on the unstructured levels, like the soft tissue, fluids can stagnate. After the doctor sets the bone and treats any soft tissue damage, a BHS practitioner can reconnect the broken lines and move the stagnate energy. This results in less pain and quicker recovery time. In addition the BHS practitioner may also help integrate the spiritual aspect into the clients life. As I mentioned earlier, this modality of healing is about integration, and one of the core teachings of BBSH is the there are spiritual, relationship and physical aspect to most, if not all, injuries and illnesses.
- Would a healing help with surgeries?
When a surgery is performed there is cutting of tissue and moving and rearranging tissue in the body. Sometimes this includes removing tissue or organs. In all the cases, in addition to tissue being cut lines of energy in the HEF are cut too. A BHS practitioner can reconnect these lines, often leading to less pain and improved recovery time. Sometimes after a surgery the patient will feel ill at ease. The surgery may have went fine as well as the recovery, but still the patient feels like something is off. In this instance it could be that lines in the HEF are not quite lined up as they originally were. For instance, if a tumor was removed from an organ, the organ may not be lying in the energy field in the same way it was before the surgery. As a result the patient may not feel quite right. A BHS practitioner can adjust the lines so the organ is more harmonious in its new surroundings.
- Would a healing help with serious illness like cancer?
Cancer is a serious illness and there are many different types and levels of severity. Generally speaking a BHS practitioner can be a helpful part of the healing team for a cancer patient. The treatments for cancer often include chemotherapy and radiation therapy. The purpose of the chemotherapy is to destroy any fast growing cells. Especially the cancer cells. In the HEF this results in a lot of stagnant or 'dead' energy. A BHS practitioner can remove this stagnant energy. Removing this stagnant energy usually results in a lessening of the side effects of the therapy. The purpose of radiation therapy is also to kill cancer cells. The radiation though can affect the lines of energy. A BHS practitioner can reconnect the lines usually leading to quicker recovery once the radiation therapy has ceased. Serious illnesses can often be an opportunity for spiritual, relationship and emotional growth. If the client is going through changes in these aspects of their life then healings can help integrate them into the client's life.
- Do healings help psychological problems?
If you are working with a psychologist, social worker or some other helping professional BHS can be a powerful adjunct. Sometimes the client is doing good work with the professional but comes to an impasse. The client understands what she is being told, the therapist feels that he has done all he can to help, yet there seems to be this block or wall the client cant get through. Often this block is in the HEF. It could be tangled lines, stagnant energy, and both or some other distortion in the HEF. Working with the BHS practitioner this block can be move or dislodged and the client can move through the issues were she was previously stuck.
- Can a healing help with my relationship problems?
From the perspective of the BHS model a healthy individual is a person whose energy is clear and flowing and who has the four dimensions integrated. When in relationship with someone there is another degree of complexity to keeping our HEF clear and vibrant. The relationship could be with a boss, spouse, significant other, child, friend or family member. If you dread seeing someone, or come away from an interaction feeling less than you did before, drained, or frustrated, or just out of sorts, that could be a sign that your HEF is becoming distorted during these interactions. A BHS practitioner can help you see how you distort your field and teach you how to run your energy or 'hold yourself' during those interactions so you come away from them feeling satisfied.
- What if I don't have a sense of God in my life? Would a healing help with that?
Sometimes people have good relationships with friends and family. And may even be in a committed relationship that feels very full and satisfying. And yet something is missing. There is not a strong sense of God or divinity. There may even be no experience of God and divinity. On the auric dimension there are levels that correspond to spiritual experience. They are divine will, divine love and the divine order. If those levels need repair or are not integrated with the other levels spiritual experience can be lacking. In addition there is the core star dimension. This is where we are one with God. Technically on this dimension there is no repair that needs to be done, because we are perfect in our divinity. But this dimension can be more fully integrated with the other dimensions. Because even though we are divine, sometimes we forget our divinity. And a BHS practitioner can help us re-member.
- What if I am not clear about what I should do with my life or why I am here?
From the BHS perspective the best place to find the purpose of life is on the hara dimension. On the hara dimension BHS practitioners are skilled at connecting our lives the divine purpose with our personal longing and the ability to carry it out. This helps out feel present in a more solid way and capable of doing what we intended to do with our lives.
