If I could only have one resource on all things Peace Corps, it would be this forum. It contains excellent information and the members are wonderful! It is managed by an extremely knowledgable moderator.

This web site is a great first start on your search for information about becoming a Peace Corps volunteer. It is a humorous and practical overview, containing information on the Peace Corps, its selection process, and the life of a volunteer.
Adventure Divas contains a brief, no-fluff description of what it is like to be a Peace Corps volunteer.
The "Independent News Forum for RPCVs" web site has a great page that contains links to over 500 stories written by PCVs. The stories are organized by country.

Books
This book is a collection of short stories written by Peace Corps volunteers about their experiences as a volunteer. The book is a wonderful cross-section of life in the Peace Corps. You can not by the book, but it is available for free at any Peace Corps regional office.
This book, written by Sarah Erdman, is an intimate look at the life of a PCV working in a small African village. It describes her sucesses and difficulties in a frank and interesting way.
This question-and-answer format book covers standard questions most aspiring PCVs ask. Things like: what are the first three months like, what happens if you get pregnant in the host country, and how difficult is readjustment to life back in the States.
