Tour day France

I vowed not to watch the tour this year, but as circumstances worked out, I ended up watching even though I didn't really want to. As expected, I got excited watching Contidor and Rasmussen fight it out on a couple of mountain stages. Then, Rasmussen gets pulled and I felt betrayed that my rooting and cheering was all for nothing. I'm glad pro cycling is cleaning itself up, but it's hard to watch a race when you don't know if a certain stage's outcomes are going to matter. I'm hoping next year is better than this year and I think it will be. Maybe I'll even watch it because I want to.

Rag And Bone

As a young adult, I listened to a lot of music, mostly CDs, but used to radio as a way of finding new music. One day, I was listening to a FM station experimenting with a call-in show and they were discussing "the greatest bands of all time". Some listener called in and nominated Pink Floyd to the list, which the DJ respectfully declined. Her justification was that "a great band should release better music with each album". I don't know enough about Pink Floyd to agree or disagree, but I do have every album by The White Stripes (including Broken Boy Soldiers by Jack White's side band, The Raconteurs).

I'm not arguing that The White Stripes are one of the greats, but I will say I felt confident I could buy their new album without hearing any of it first, a big no-no for me.
