What is the benefit for me of all these strange video formats? Netvideo tries to publish in the most convenient way for our viewers, offering video formats that can be watched on a PC, a Mac, a cellphone, a video-capable iPod or a Sony Playstation Portable. Please be sure to select the right format for your playback device, such as Quicktime (for Mac users), Macromedia Flash Video and Windows Media (for PC users), 3GP for video-capable cellphones and .mp4 for PSP. You can also subscribe to Netvideo content via an "RSS" feed, obtaining the latest breaking Netvideo interviews automatically (and in the correct video format for your playback device). Instructions are published in the links below for each Netvideo. If you need software to playback RSS feeds, we recommend a viewer such as ANT for Macs and Windows. How can I get my own video on Netvideo? Netvideo would welcome your videos for possible inclusion in the Netvideo vlog. If you have an informed view about the media, entertainment and technology issues Netvideo tackles, then please use your Webcam to send us your contribution. If you would like to express a view, but you are not sure how, we suggest you look at SightSpeed. When you download the small SightSpeed application (for either Windows or Mac OSX) you can create, for free, a 30 second video message. You can then email that to a destination of your choice (such as editor@netvideo.com.au). The video is uploaded to sightspeed’s server. The email to editor@netvideo.com.au contains a link to the video on the SightSpeed server. When we receive an email such as this, we can look at your contribution on the sightspeed server and download it from there for inclusion in Netvideo. The process is quick, easy and free. All you need is a Webcam, a microphone, a computer and a broadband connection. We look forward to watching your work! Note on uploading a Netvideo Sony PSP movie from a Mac to your PSP: • After you right click download the .mp4 file from Netvideo’s server to transfer it to your computer, locate it on your hard disk. • Connect the PSP to your computer using the USB connection, and choose the “USB connection” option on the PSP menu. • When the drive appears on your OSX desktop, create the following directories in the ROOT of the drive (i.e. NOT in the PSP directory): MP_ROOT/100MNV01 • Now copy the MP4 file to the MP_ROOT/100MNV01 directory. Dismount the PSP memory stick drive. • Go to the Movies menu on the PSP. You should now see the movie and be able to play it. Pressing the triangle button gives access to menu options.
