| The X|Media Lab and Australia's Digital Media Future | | Date Created: May 09, 2005, 09:19 AM |
Brendan Harkin, the executive director of the X|Media Lab, talks about how his international digital collaboration projects (including a new one shortly at Broadcast Asia in Singapore next month) help Australia's digitial media industry by fostering both skills and relationships. In this Sydney interview, Netvideo asks Brendan how a nation can discourage its best talents from departing for larger markets overseas and the extent to which Government investment in the digital media industry is warranted. Brendan also talks about the creative, conceptual and technological issues that the creative industries face in the lead up to digital projects actually getting made. He explains how the contemporary Australian digital industry now understands that a "watering hole" is needed for the different kinds of animals in the "media zoo" to meet each other.
