The computing world's spotlight is on Apple this week, particularly in Australia, with the new OSX Tiger to hit shops from 6pm this Friday (AEST). Netvideo will interview MyMac Australia's Jason Swifte that day about the rate of take up, the level of excitement and just why Tiger is worth upgrading to. We're especially interested in Spotlight's ability to find the information we are looking for, having long missed text indexing and retrieval software such as Isys (since we switched to OSX from Windows a year ago). There are also strong rumours that Apple will launch its Australian iTunes music store. Netvideo's global viewers may be stunned to know that the iTunes store they may be lucky enough to take for granted in their own country, still has not opened its doors in Australia. But it seems actor Russell Crowe has now spilled the beans on a Sydney radio talkshow, revealing that his latest tracks would be on sale for A$1.80 by tomorrow (Thursday, April 28). Tomorrow being the second anniversary of the iTunes music store in the United States, it would be a nice touch if Apple could bring America's Australian ally into the fold as part of the celebration. By the way, Australian gamesters are also feeling friskier, with the finalisation of September 1 as the Australian launch date for the A$429.95 Sony Play Station Portable (the European PSP apparently will launch on the same day). Netvideo will bring you interviews with PSP experts closer to that date. The 16:9 format 4.3-inch screen for movie viewing is particularly attractive - maybe this will prompt Apple to release its long awaited video-capable iPod. |
