Donald the Nut
Donald the Nut featured in the podcast episodes, contributing his wacky sense of humor and 'can eat' attitude to the programmes.
Hi! This is "Donald the Nut" from the Nerd Rock band Three Day Stubble. I am here in the corner
saying "See what fun things I find to eat, explain or
simply share from Kyoto, Japan. Having already eaten some
pretty weird stuff by western standards and maybe even
sometimes by Japanese standards too, I can see there is a
world of fun to be had here."

In addition to making a short audio program for the
Enhanced Podcast, I also usually make a short
video documenting my experience. I will provide the latest
video directly from this page and you can find all the
videos of the past shows on the Three Day Stubble web site
by following the links below.
Here is a little history of the shows...
- I ate natto and have been quoted in print for saying "Some people
compare it to the taste of dirty socks, but I don't think it's like that. People say that about cheese, don't they? Well, I love cheese and I love smelly natto".
- At Fushimi Inari Shrine I ate Sparrow!
- During Gion Matsuri I ate Squid and Fish on a stick.
- At Indoa's Coffee I ate wasabi ice cream.
- On Nishiki Street Market I ate 7 spice soft serve icecream.
- In Arashiyama, I ate Kyozengi sof serve tofu ice cream with mame and
mochi.
- Under the Snack Friend sign I ate some dried squid.
- I recorded and explained about the loud summer insect called Cicada
in English and Semi in Japanese.
- I read an original poem called "kawaige" which means "loveliness"
that I wrote in Japanese based on the kanji character
"気".
- I showed off and explained some traditional Japanese footware made of
wood called Ippongeta.
- At Nishiki Street Market I ate Saba which is a fish called Mackerel
in English.
- At Indoa's Coffee I had a coffee float with their famous lemon ice
cream.
- At Futaba I ate their famous Mamemochi which is mochi with
adzukibeans and beanpaste inside.
- As part of my snack kick I went to the Resident Resident's house and
had fun with my "Cookie Friend"
- The snack kick continues... I love Japanese bakeries. I over
indulged on an asparagus bacon bun, a croquet boat, and
an egg triangle. I plan to bring you a bakery series in
the future.
- Doraemon Santa the Nut goes to the Hub Pub for
Halloween
