Arlen and I lived and laughed along the Kennebec River in central Maine during the years we did these adventures. At the time of our 1998 raft adventure, Arlen was 12 years old. Arlen's favorite pastimes during our raft-adventure years were reading (fantasy), sleeping, computer games, CCGs (customizable card games), and playing baseball. Raft Adventure 2003 was likely our last one; Arlen starts college September 2003. My name is Jan Brackett. I have more interests and hobbies than time to pursue them all regularly--reading, sewing, swimming, camping, crocheting, house planning/designing/fixing, working out, as well as a passion for web site development. Maybe dancing and bicycling will work their way back into the mix as I continue to recover from major hip surgery. I value self discovery and lifelong learning--which may explain my non-linear career trajectory! I try to appreciate moments as they are and embrace continuous change and growth. The reality of that, though, leads to much giggling (and a little hair pulling) about the contradictions and absurdities of life.
