MEASURE E WILL BE GOOD FOR BUELLTON

1. Measure E helps prevent sprawl, which in turn
• Protects property values
• Controls traffic & avoids overcrowded schools
• Supports agriculture, views, and open space

2. Measure E promotes smart growth — not no-growth—and reinforces Buellton’s “blueprint for growth” described in the 2025 General Plan.
• The General Plan, approved by the City Council, says that current city limits should meet the City’s growth needs through 2025.
• Measure E encourages growth inside the City's boundaries first and development of our downtown area—like the City of Ventura.
• Measure E allows growth outside current city limits without a vote of the people for public schools, parks and state-mandated housing.
• Measure E allows growth outside current city limits with a vote for any purpose.
• Voters in other cities with UGB’s have approved projects outside the boundaries. Having to obtain voter approval made them better projects.

3. Measure E will have no effect on the City Council until the Council wishes to expand the city limits.
• Measure E changes nothing about how decisions are made inside the city.
• Measure E requires a citizen vote for new projects outside the city.
• Measure E allows the City to focus its attention on implementing the Council-approved General Plan, and
• Measure E strengthens the Council’s hand in negotiating with developers

4. Measure E is endorsed by community members, not NIMBYs—Not in My Back Yarders .

• Citizens have a duty to stand up to see that the public interest, and not just private interest, prevails.
