It is Christmas at the White House!

It has been another eventful year for the White folks. This has been a remarkable year for us. A year of great joys, financial challenges and successes, interesting travels, and good times with old and new friends.

Many of the pictures in this webpage are 'live' - if you click on them they will bring up larger pictures or whole other web pages. In addition, we have a separate year in pictures page you can get to by clicking here. We hope you enjoy this.

Our Travels and Visitors

We had a few visitors (Not Near Enough) and we went on a few trips. The Inve$tFe$t crew continues to bless us with a yearly visit in May for fun, fishing and laughing. Fishing was not as good this year, but no one really cares. Jack Mergle won the prize with his huge tarpon.

Our trips were short but very enjoyable this year. We met all of Betty's sisters in Waldron, Arkansas in April for a cousin's birthday party and family reunion.

We went to Portland, Oregon in August for a week of visiting with Misty and helping her find a car.

We celebrated our birthdays this year at Niagara Falls, and a short leaf peeping tour of northern NY.

Bob's college roomie, Don Sambol, came for a week in November, and we had a lot of fun fishing and stuff.

Between visits and trips Bob had a ruptured eardrum repaired. This was outpatient surgery but turned out to be a bigger deal than we thought. The graft is holding and the pain is subsiding and the numbness is less. All looks good.

David & Family

Tammy and the grandkids came for a week in July. David no longer works for us full-time and had no time off, so he couldn't come. David took a job in May with the Social Security Administration in the Marietta office. It was quite an adjustment for us and his whole family. Bob actually has to watch the portfolio again. The kids were used to having Daddy around and so was Tammy. He actually has to dress in something besides bunny slippers for work.

Luke (4.5) is in preschool four days each week this year and he is growing like a weed. Sadie (2) is talking up a storm and keeps her mom hopping.

Misty

Two years ago, our daughter Misty graduated with a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon, and she completed one year of residency in Orlando with Dr. Kirti M. Kalidas M.D., N.D.

Last fall, she moved back to Portland, and completed her second year of residency at NCNM Clinic at the National College of Natural Medicine. She was thrilled to finally finish but now the work of starting a practice begins. She is now working part-time in the capacity of adjunct clinical faculty at NCNM. She gets to join us in Atlanta for Christmas then down to the Keys for a few days and visit with friends in Puerto Rica for a week. How fun!!

Misty's E-mail address is misty.white@gmail.com and she would like to hear from you, or answer any of your questions about natural medicine. Check out her cool website.

Everyday Life in The Keys

This year we were fortunate to have no hurricanes. It was just hot.

When we are not traveling, fishing, or shooting tanks on Wii (Bob hit a new record of 167), Bob spends a lot of time chatting with virtual friends on the internet in a stock chat room called ValueForum.

We have made several 'virtual' friends from this investment site, and like last year and the year before, several friends came down for a fishing trip and a tarpon rodeo. We had several great days of laughing, eating, fishing, more laughing, and swapping of investing ideas. While we didn't catch many fish this year, we did have a lot of fun.

We don't know what next year holds for us. Almost certainly, we expect to be taking several trips back and forth to Atlanta. We have several ideas for the upcoming year but have not finalized any plans. One option is to charter a sailboat out of Key West for a trip to Ft. Jefferson this spring. An old college friend sent info about her cruise around the British Isles. Bob and I both would like to visit Greece. Vienna, Austria, a stop on our Viking River Cruise last year, is a spot that we both want to visit again.

One thing is for sure, we are going to have as much fun as the law will allow. We love to have visitors - seems like unless we have absolutely perfect weather or perfect fishing conditions, we don't get out as much as we should. Give us a call or send us an E-mail and let's get together and have some fun!

We hope your year has been fun, rewarding, and fulfilling. May you realize how blessed 2009 was and here's hoping 2010 is better. Just remember, family and friends are the really important things in life.
