1855 - 1856 John and his family were members of the "James G. Willie Company" of Mormon's travelling to Utah from "back East". John was 44 years old, Mary Ann was 44, Catherine 12, Samuel 11, Thomas 9, Mary Ann 8, and Andrew 3. - [3]
"Left for Utah in May 1855. They were married again on 29 Oct. 1859 in Salt Lake City, perhaps in the Temple."
"At one time, he was excommunicated from the church over a property dispute with another member of the church, and later reinstated." - [1]
June 1855 John and Mary Ann's 17 year old daughter, Eliza, died of cholera as their wagon train passed through Nebraska on the way to Utah.
